Week Two Visits

Week Two on the Campaign Trail

And I am in Albury!  What a cracker of a town.  I have talked to a lot of business owners and operated and met some unusual characters down town.  The key message I am getting from the street is that people are looking for a change. Which is good, because I can provide!

Saturday

We spent the morning on a letter box drop.  The little people took to the scooters and boy can they do some tricks.  In the arvo it was off to the footy.  And it was the closest match I've seen in a very long time. Corowa pipped Albury by a single point. Well done all players.

Sunday

After watching Albury Hotspurs beat Albury United in the soccer it was time for a Sunday drive.  We were off to Jindera to the ewe-beaut playground then Burrumbuttock and a nice walk through the Wirraminna before stopping in Walbundrie for a refreshing ale. Walla Walla has one of the best done water tower art I've seen.  Last stop Gerogery for another letterbox drop.  I was not game to try the colossal steak.

Monday

On Monday I walked the CBD chatting to the locals. It was a fair walk but I needed the exercise.  Some more letterbox drops and some Parkland fish and chips.

Tuesday

Noon is the ballot paper draw. I met most of the other candidates, who were all very polite and friendly. The ballot is an interesting process, much like the lottery with a ball tumbler that members of the audience can have a turn spinning.  My daughters thought that was great fun. Then in the afternoon it was a round of meetings with stakeholders discussing water, health and education.

Wednesday

Spent the morning in Lavington at the shops. Met some lovely people with some very colourful hairstyles. It is apparently the latest trend in Albury to dye your hair in magnificent colour.  So far I have seen red, pink, purple, green, blue, fluoro yellow, sparkling orange, and one very pretty rainbow. In the afternoon it was off to Henty and the best steak sandwich I've had in years from Culcairn takeaway.

Thursday

The picnic was packed so we were off to Holbrook and Jingellic. A quick stop at the Lake Hume dam- gee the water is low- then some mail box drops along the way to Jingellic. The town itself is only a few hundred metres outside the electorate but there are more than a few resident who just make it inside the voting boundary.  It would be remiss to ignore them. At Holbrook we visited the submarine and then off to Woomargama for a relaxing view of the sunset.

Friday

On to the MIA!
